I have one huge complaint which isn't so much about the book itself but how DC markets it. Let me explain.This is sold as a DC Essential Series which DC themselves define as "the best standalone stories" and "easiest entry points...... Start with the Essentials."Blackest Night is the conclusion of a years long event, with dozens of tie ins across multiple character runs (the Blackest Night Omnibus is about 1,600 pages!). A new reader picking this book up will be nothing but lost (I assume). Major characters are already dead. More obscure (non-mainstream) ones take center stage. With nearly all the context and background scattered in other books.Now, the book itself is great. And one of the better events out there. But buyer beware / know your audience. These major cross over events are geared to the seasoned reader who is already thoroughly plugged into the story arcs (and they will be greatly rewarded if they are). But to advertise this book as an entry point for new readers is maliciously false.
